Stephen M. Vantassel is presently Dean of Students and tutor of Biblical Studies and Theology at King's Evangelical Divinity School, Kent, England. He also works as Project Coordinator for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he teaches the public about wildlife damage management. Stephen has a Ph.D. in Theology (2008 with distinction). His dissertation was entitled, A Biblical, Ethical, and Scientific Evaluation of the Christian Animal Rights Movement's Opposition to Wildlife Trapping. His book, Dominion over Wildlife? An Environmental-Theology of Human-Wildlife Relations (Eugene, OR: Wipf and Stock, 2009) is an expanded version of his dissertation.

Dr. Vantassel believes that much environmental discussion suffers from excessive vagueness and useless generalities and platitudes. He contends that by discussing a Christian view of humanity's dominion over animals provides a rubric to discuss our role in the wider environment.
